Oh, so you're bored too?

I still can't get my head around what's happened and what's happening. I'm sure you can't as well. Alas, here we are.

This isn't going to be a bunch of words thrown together to make some sort of diary on how my isolation is going. It's going terribly. Whose isn't? This is more of a bunch of words thrown together to kind of ask and rant about something.

TikTok has suddenly in our boredom, become a major trend here in the UK. It's been going for at least 2 years since it changed from Musically and has maybe been more popular elsewhere in the world than in Britain. However, unashamedly, I'm happy to say I've been burning my time mindlessly watching TikTok's for over a year. I don't follow a soul on that app, but the algorithm that the 'For You' page uses has worked out I enjoy the chaotic 'vine-esque' videos.

The 'For You' page is still pretty random even with a core of videos being to my taste or humour. Every now and again I'm cursed with watching the opening seconds to a 20-something-year old attempting to vlog their quarantine experiences in an overly serious tone.

If you're going to document your quarantine, please just make it a sarcastic or comedic take on events.

We're all living the exact same life right now. Whether you're in the UK, the States, mainland Europe, Africa, Asia and so on. It's pretty much all the same.

So vlogging your experiences into a minutes TikTok without a creative, humour-filled edge, is essentially just making any viewer stare into a mirror rather than watch content.

I couldn't believe it when I stumbled across the third vlog which started with "I woke up, made my bed, opened the blinds and brushed my teeth."

Well, yes!? Were people not doing this before you were made to stay indoors at home? I guess I'd be bragging to these vloggers if I said I've been making my bed since I could walk. I get up for work when it's usually still dark out and I'll still open the blinds. Brush my teeth? Obviously?

I've never watched past these points of the 'quarantine vlogs' but can someone let me know what they do next? Eat breakfast? Drink water? Actually, don't. I'll revisit my last point of 'who cares'.

And I'll actually answer that point too - no one cares. How do I know, I hear you ask? Well, TikTok notoriously has millions upon millions upon millions of active users. So many videos once propelled onto the 'For You' page, will accumulate millions of likes. The vlogs I've seen will be lucky to get more than 3k likes. 3k likes more than me? Yes, but I don't post. If you broke onto the 'For You' page and got 3k likes, that's a low for you.

That paragraph above is the closest we'll get to me backing up a casual blog with stats. It was for a good cause.

The thing is, no one's doing anything right now. Even uni students and people who have to work from home. Yes, their days are a lot more productive than mine. But it's all as contained and mundane as mine too. So what's the point of vlogging about it?

Hi guys, the first thing I did today was wake up. Then I made my bed and opened my blinds to let in the light so I could see. I brushed my teeth. Ate Breakfast as I was hungry and made sure to drink water. Now I'm going to give myself a headache playing FIFA and Call of Duty all day with Netflix binge breaks. I hope this inspires all of you.
